11th September 2024, London – After its successful launch in January, The Rex Delicatessen, located at 38 Bruton Place, is introducing a new bistro menu, enhancing its offering to the Mayfair area. Set within a Grade II listed former Victorian stable, the delicatessen is nestled just off Mayfair’s iconic Berkeley Square. Chef Larry Jayasekara, also behind the acclaimed The Cocochine, has meticulously preserved the space’s original charm while adding a contemporary touch.
The interior, designed by The Calshot Group, honors the venue’s heritage. From retaining the original tiling to repurposing stable partitions and tethering posts, the restoration stays true to the building’s history, blending artistry with craftsmanship.
Bistro Menu Highlights
The new menu features elevated British classics, including Shepherd’s Pie, Grilled Lamb Chops, and sides such as Miso Glazed Potatoes and Gardens Salad with House Dressing. The expanded drinks menu offers an array of wines by the glass, perfect alongside dishes like Tosi Gorgonzola and Apple Chutney. All ingredients are sourced from select fishers and artisan producers, including exclusive access to Rowler Estate‘s regenerative farmland and fresh catches from the seas around Tanera Mòr in Scotland’s Inner Hebrides.
The all-day menu offers flexibility, allowing patrons to drop in for lunch or dinner or to enjoy the delicatessen’s coffees, snacks, and takeaway items. The space is also available for private evening events, offering wine and small plates from the new bistro selection.

While The Cocochine focuses on fine dining, The Rex Deli now rounds out our Bruton Place offering with a bistro menu that is both casual and exquisite, highlighting our commitment to quality ingredients.”
In addition to the bistro, The Rex Delicatessen hampers are now available for order. These hampers, filled with products from the Rowler Estate, such as blackberry jam, rosemary and garlic oil, honey, and truffle butter, will also feature exclusive gourmet treats from Jayasekara and his team. For a festive twist, you can also add Champagne and Caviar for a premium experience.
